He made his Test debut in the first test at Galle on the Sri Lankan tour of 2004. he played cricket for Kent in 2003, his third season with the English county. Has previously played county cricket with Gloucestershire and during his time with that side he achieved the record for most sixes by one player in a first-class innings (16) and a first-class match (20) while scoring 254 not out and 76 against Glamorgan at Abergavenny in 1995.
He is also a key member of the World Cup-winning squad of 2003, scoring 326 runs in nine matches including 143 not out in 135 balls against Pakistan in his side’s opening match in Johannesburg and also 91 not out against Sri Lanka in the semi-final in Port Elizabeth.
